God's Pocket
Bell Island and Harlequin Bay on Hurst Island are two spots located in “God’s Pocket Marine Park” approximately 9 nautical miles from Port Hardy. For the more "adventurous" they are two great places to kayak to, and set up base camp. Drinking water is scarce so plenty should be taken along. These are two totally remote areas with beautiful surrounding scenery. To get to these places you would have to cross the open water of Goletas Channel which can get a bit rough at times. You could be taken there and dropped off by "water-taxi". Quite likely you would see dolphins, whales and seals and or sea lions. These camping spots would be ideal for the persons who wanted a 2-4 day trip and group size of 4-5 people. As this is designated an undeveloped Provincial marine park, this park is comprised of a group of islands at the entrance to Queen Charlotte Strait, including Hurst, Bell, Boyle, Crane Islands, and numerous smaller islets. These islands provide some sheltered camping for kayakers heading north or south in Queen Charlotte Strait.
